Accessibility Standards Canada Standards Development Process: 12 Steps

- Identify priorities for standards development;
- Establish technical committee requirements;
- Create terms of reference to guide the committees;
- Create technical committees of 12 to 18 members;
- Draft the accessibility standard;
- Consult the public by sharing the draft standard online;
- Organize and incorporate public feedback;
- Confirm the standard was developed appropriately;
- Approve the standard;
- Publish the standard;
- Recommend the standard to the Minister; and
- Review and maintain the standard.
