Development of communicational sign langage accessibility in judicial and correctional settings in Canada

The project will look at the barriers faced by Deaf and hard of hearing individuals who use sign language while navigating the justice or prison system. These sign languages include American Sign Language (ASL), langue des signes québécoise (LSQ), or Indigenous Sign Languages. It is important for people who use these languages to understand legal processes in judicial and prison environments. The project aims to produce recommendations to help reduce these barriers and inform the development of future accessibility standards.
