Understanding and addressing barriers to adoption of voluntary accessibility standards for the built environment

This project aims to look at the things that can make accessibility requirements difficult to understand and use in real-world building conditions. Accessibility standards can provide a framework for inclusive design but there can also be gaps between technical requirements, real-world building conditions, and the lived experience of people with disabilities. The project aims to create clear recommendations to help improve future standards.
