Promoting Family Inclusive Accessibility Standards Through the Experiences of Parents and Caregivers with Disabilities

The experience of parents and caregivers with disabilities is often overlooked, leading to the exclusion of these disability groups from larger communities. This study will examine the experiences of parents and caregivers with disabilities and their families as they navigate the built environment and interact with programs and services. The study will include areas such as national parks, heritage buildings, national museums, banks, and passport offices. It will also identify barriers that families face as they travel to these areas. Family-based accessibility is key to addressing this gap and ensuring that families led by parents and caregivers with disabilities can actively participate in their communities.
