Embedding Lived Experience and Organizational Constraint in the Context of the Design and Delivery of Programs and Services Standard

This project aims to create a dataset on the experiences of persons with disabilities when interacting with programs and services of federal government and other federally regulated entities. The project’s research report aims to provide a summary of the barriers most frequently experienced. The findings will inform the design and delivery of future programs/services, including customer service, and support the development and/or revision of accessible standards.

This study will create a set of best practices for integrating technology into built environments, such as buildings and other structures. This will help people with disabilities be more independent.

This study will gather data on the barriers faced by people with disabilities who work in federal science laboratories. Scientists with disabilities will be involved in assessing the research findings. This will improve our understanding of the impact of barriers. It will also inform the development of accessibility standards in the built environment. 

Enhancing employment contracts accessibility: Plain language recommendations for accessible workplaces

Complex language creates barriers for workers with language accommodations needs.  This study will document the barriers experienced by people with cognitive disabilities in understanding employment contracts. It will provide adaptable recommendations for the use of plain language in employment contracts.

Enhancing Social Cohesion by Creating Accessible Festivals and Events

This study will explore the accessibility of festivals and other events in Canada. It will also look at the experiences and job opportunities for youth with disabilities who want to work at such events.

Ensuring Access and Understanding of Public Information for People with Disabilities

This study will identify barriers to accessing and understanding online information for people with disabilities. The study will focus on the accessibility of legal services and communication services. This project will assess the implementation of best practices and provide recommendations for the development of the next generation of model accessibility standards.
